10 grandchildren! What is in your gene pool?! Congratulations on your subscriber growth. Thanks for the mention. We share a love of writing and Christianity!
I love this. Great picture of you and the office. It looks like such a comfortable space. I like reading about people's lives that are interesting - past, present and anticipated future - food and, lately, Spanish politics, in Spanish, as a way to learn the language and understand the country better, ahead of moving there. Right now, I'm in Los Angeles, California!
- I also write here on Substack. A little newsletter I’ve entitled “Traditions for the Future”. I am trying to pass on traditions and culture from the South, Presbyterianism, and gardening as well as some ideas to mull over along the way.
- I hail from Southeast Alabama. Six generations in one county. I’m an ordained deacon in the PCA.
- I like to read theology, the classics, and have gotten into a lot of Wendell Berry in the last year.
- I saw that recently commented on a post from Beth Yarbrough and discovered you that.
It’s nice to introduce myself. I’m looking forward to seeing your posts in my inbox.
Hi Cork, I am Jean Davis a freelance writer. I am just getting started on Substack. I write on Medium, Quota, LinkedIn. I also use my life situations hoping it will help others on those platforms. But on this one, I will be using my simple ways of cleaning, cooking, healing with herbs and some life story. I too am a Christian and that is why I can help people because the Lord dug me out of many situations.
Thanks for the shoutout Cork! You’re a wise man and I’m grateful that your retirement has been so fruitful.
And congratulations on the newest grandchild! Praying for health and wellness for mom and baby!

Those grands are the fruit of Five of our own five kids. 😁
Thanks for the mention, Cork! So heartened I could be of some encouragement, small though that may be!
Wow! Thanks, Cork! You're the first writer to actually mention me by name in a post. This has been a great week!
Yes, this is something we all need to do to boost others "budding" writers.
