Hey Cork; I'm liking your focus! My wife and I are just over a month into retirement. She has some health issues that are always a consideration but we're anxious to 'get into this!'
Yes! Glad to hear it, Ron. I've been retired a little over 2 years now and still loving it. I do not miss having to work one single bit. By the way, I also have another Substack, The Talking Pen (https://mytalkingpen.substack.com which focuses on the more creative side with fiction/non-fiction and some poetry. I hope you will check it out. Thanks for getting in touch.
Good to see you back,, Cork, but I have to tell you the Substack algorithms are not letting me see when you publish something new. There are so many new writers on Substack, I think it is easy for some of your old favorites to disappear. Keep up the good work, my friend, and there is no expiration date on serving, friendship, or chasing your dreams.
Yes, I agree on the algorithms. I had stopped checking my email because I was getting too many that I couldn’t read, so was looking at the inbox version on the substack site, but I noticed the same thing. Will go back to opening the emails, particularly of my favorite authors, of which you are one.
Thanks, Cork. I am entering the second year of retirement, and 6 months on Substack. Retirement does provide ample opportunity to write—and to serve! I am thankful for all that retirement is right now, including time with my grandchildren!
Every Christian should be involved with ministry is so true! It also never ages like you reference. In retirement, in school, in work, we all have the opportunity to minister the gospel.
Congratulations on reaching another milestone in your Substack journey!
Just last night, I was telling my wife how transformative consistent writing has been for me. The more I write, the clearer my mind becomes, the more organized my thoughts feel, and the faster I can recall ideas. It’s a truly sharpening process.
So many people, after retiring, slip into inactivity, which often leads to even less engagement over time. That’s why your commitment to this new chapter of writing is so inspiring. You’re not only pursuing a meaningful path but also impacting countless others with your words.
Thank you, Jason. I must say that your own prolific writing has made an impact on me and I'm sure countless others. The various stories you write about historical events and people are inspirational.
Cork, a great line with, "There is no expiration date, on this side of the grave, for serving others."

Thanks, Chuck. Sounds like we’re walking similar paths.

Exactly. Thank you, Adam.
