Today marks 71 years I have been breathing air.
Looking back provides a snapshot of where my thinking was when I started this newsletter, and how far I’ve come since then. But it also sparks ideas for new articles.
Last year was an amazing year for me. Many significant events and changes took place in 2023:
January 6 - I retired after 55 years of trading time for $.
January 12 - I started Life UnCorked here on Substack.
January 23 - I turned 70 years old, an age that looked ancient not too many years before, but now it’s the new 50.
My lovely bride, Susan, and I celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary.
We traveled at will - not subject to # of vacation days or employer’s approval.
I published over 150 posts
I finished the year with 196 subscribers (just shy of the 200 goal).
I launched a second newsletter, The Talking Pen, which is dedicated to the creative side of things.
Republishing these earlier posts is also a means to connect the many new subscribers with what was written before they came on board.
So, to launch this series, here is the third article I wrote on Life UnCorked on January 19, 2023. It captures how many view life in this day of materialism:
Along with writing new articles, I will continue to republish articles in this “Looking Back” series as the year unfolds.
If you are new to Life UnCorked, welcome aboard. Thank you for your support. And don’t forget to also subscribe to my creative writing newsletter, The Talking Pen.
Happy birthday, Cork! Have a great day.
Happy birthday, Cork. May your writing adventure continue for many years to come.
