The Process of Personal Transformation: The Most Important Part
Spiritual Transformation - Don't Leave Earth Without It
For those who have already put a lot of miles on the road of life, it may seem impossible to significantly change our circumstances.
But, remember the first thing we must do is bring ourselves to believe that change IS POSSIBLE. But it cannot end there. Belief must be followed by action.
We must carefully choose a path, based on who we are, then begin to walk. Inertia is a killer of dreams. We must take the first step toward our goal. Then the next one and the next one. Eventually, they become much easier once we are already moving.
“Inertia is a killer of dreams”
Life transformation involves the whole person: spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional. So, our action steps must incorporate each of those aspects as needed. Having a plan is essential if we want to significantly change the direction of our lives.
Most of us plan much more meticulously for a vacation than we do for life transformation. Going back to earlier posts in this series, we just drift in the current of whatever comes along, becoming more and more bitter that things never seem to get better or change.
As hypocrites, we duplicitously praise God in an outward show, while at the same time curse our circumstances.
As the Apostle James exhorts,
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. - James 3:10
So, what is to be done? How can we initiate life transforming changes?
Laying a new foundation.
The first and, truly, most important step is to make sure we are truly a new creation spiritually is paramount.
Just as the caterpillar becomes a butterfly - Spiritual transformation creates a completely new person. I can think of no better basis on which to start.
In the 2nd letter to the Corinthian Church, the Apostle Paul declared, “Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17.
In the total scope of things, nothing else matters. Jesus put it this way:
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?” - Mark 8:36
Spiritually speaking, it is possible to become transformed into a completely different person. Not just changed, but recreated, as in made from scratch, from the foundation up.
This metamorphosis is the most important transformation that takes place in any life. Without Spiritual transformation, nothing else we do will have any value beyond the grave.
You may say, “Well, I believe that when we die, that's it. Nothing lasts beyond the grave.”
You are free to believe what you will, but if you will take a careful objective look at creation, including the intricacies of the human body and mind, I believe there is ample evidence to suggest otherwise.
So, how then does this transformation take place? How can you experience this spiritual “mid-life metamorphosis?” The Good News is that the “work” has all been done and is offered as a gift. However, a gift must be received in order to truly become a gift.
The Apostle Paul, writing to the Roman Christians said, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” - Romans 6:23
As transformation relates to the rest of our life, there is an old saying, “Insanity is doing the same things over and over again, yet expecting different results”. Simply stated, if you want to change the outcome of your life, you must change what you put into your life.
The next few posts in this series will begin to layout the mental, emotional, and physical steps essential to any action plan for life transformation at any age.
Until then, my friends …
